Sunflower Pressed Glass Pedestal Cake Stand - Antique, Pre 1920's

This clear, pressed glass cake stand is a fine example of old pressed glass. The pedestal has 3 mold marks which was common in pressed glass between 1880 and 1930 and was referred to as "Triple Mold" pressed glass. The glass has some "wavy" areas which were often found in very old glass. There is a 1/2 inch rim on the plate section, this was included on old cake stands as cake could be a soft cake like cheesecake served with a topping which the edge kept from dripping off the sides. This would be very nice as the bottom tier topped with 2 or 3 more tiers, in a wedding where the bride is decorating with sunflowers. Just imagine serving sunflower cutter sugar cookies all decorated in yellow and brown frosting. What a delight! The stand is 4.75 inches tall, with a diameter of 9.75 inches. **Our antique items will naturally have signs of wear, age, and production imperfections.
