This beautiful pink open sugar dish was produced in the 1930s. It is in the pattern, Rosemary, by Federal Glass. The light pink glass is in excellent condition.
This specific dish is very hard to find! The Rosemary pattern was only produced 1935-1937. Because the company was dealing with copy write problems and manufacturing logistics of changing their pattern mold, the production period was even shorter. Thus, the pattern, Rosemary, was only made in limited numbers The Rosemary pattern is particularly interesting because it was a transition from the company's earlier Mayfair pattern and the Sharon pattern which followed it. The original Mayfair design was created by a jeweler. The arches and open roses seen in the Rosemary pattern came from this earlier design. The open roses became the focus of the pattern earning the glassware the nickname "Dutch Rose". The smooth edges eluded to the Sharon Pattern that would take its place.
