Pewter Kerosene Jar, Imperial Made in England, Vintage English Estate Piece

The maker's mark on this jar is partially worn off, and all that can be clearly seen is a crown. After looking through hundreds of pewter companies' marks from the 19th and 20th century, there were no companies that used the same crown mark. It is more likely that the crown is a verification mark, meaning that this piece was verified by a weights and measures inspector, which was required of all English-made pieces since 1835. The jar is in excellent condition, with only a bit of wear on the bottom over the maker's mark. This was not made by today's Imperial Pewter company, which was founded in 1951. It does not smell of kerosene; it is clean.

Measures 3.5 inches tall, 3 inches wide with the handle, and 2.25 inches in diameter.
