This hand-crafted basket comes from the Karuk tribe of Northern California. The tribe resides along the Kalamath River in Humbolt and Siskiyou counties. The Karuk tribe is one of the largest tribes in California as well as one of the longest-lasting tribes, historically surviving on salmon fishing. More than 3,700 tribal members live near their aboriginal territory on over a million acres, co-evolving with the ecosystem that surrounds them. This very fragile Karuk basket is in good condition. It was purchased in 1980 from an antique shop in California.

Dimensions: 3"H x 8.5"W
