This brass with zinc lining, hand-finished food mold is a wonderful piece. The original hammer marks are easily visible. It is not only useful it would make a terrific wall decoration and/or conversation piece. Since the 1950s, food molds have represented the well-known treat called Jello. But when this mold was made, it was popular to serve both hot and cold meats from a mold, or desserts with very little sugar added, as it was a luxury in common kitchens. The molds represented hardy foods and a kitchen with a maid.
