Seesaws teach kids that life has its ups and downs. This antique Milk glass with blue transfer design plate was made in the 1850s in Staffordshire, England.
The scene in the center of the plate depicts three children, two of them at play on a log seesaw. The image is a transfer design vary in shade of blue. The text below reads the famous child's rhyme "See-saw Margery Daw, she shall have but a penny a day. Jenny shall have a new master, because she can't work any faster." This proper English rhyme dates from 1765 when the first Mother Goose publications came out. The child's plate is about 160 years old.
