Carved Horn Chinese Bird and Lily Pad Sculpture Rare Peoples Republic of China Paper Label

This lovely and graceful horn carving appears to be a squid with a lily pad leaf and a tiny bird on a reed. There is an original paper "Made in the Peoples Republic of China" label on the underside. From 1949 until the 1970s, Trade between China and the US was nearly nil. Only a limited number of items are found with a label like this. Usually, during that period of time, if it said "Made in China", it was made in Taiwan.
