Bisque Victorian Lady Handle Topper for Clothes Brush Made in Germany

A beautiful bisque figurine of a lovely lady! Except she is missing the original horse hair brush she crowned. Her hand painted features are still vibrant and beautifully in tact (see photos). There are a few tiny flecks on her which may have come with use. The lady figure originally was the top of a whisk brush, which would have been used for road dust, lint, crumbs, or by barbers to remove hair from client's clothing. Designing these brushes with bisque or porcelain figures was popular in the mid to late 1800s continuing well into the early 1900s. The figure has an impressed marked with the word “Germany” on the back of her waist and below that the number.55'57 she would be a great addition to a collection of brush toppers..
Measures 3" tall, and 1.25" wide.
