Berghoff Embossed Beer Bottle Vintage Pre 1918, Fort Wayne, Indiana

Opened in 1888 in Fort Wayne, Indiana and known for light German Pilsner style beer, the Berghoff Beer Company was the creation of 4 brothers named Berghoff. They had already been in the bottling industry for 15 years prior to producing beer; thus, they knew the value of a recognizable embossed label. With it, they created a big name for themselves in pre-Prohibition Fort Wayne, Indiana. The 1918 prohibition changed their production to sodas and other beverages, but they reorganized and survived to produce beer again after the prohibition. The brothers were skilled businessmen and the beer outlived the first generation and on into a 3rd generation.
